Description

GENERAL INFORMATION

Both rotavirus and adenovirus are the main causative agents of infectious gastroenteritis and associated symptom complexes in humans, and especially in children and the elderly. Adenovirus is usually thought to cause gastroenteritis, but it can also be the cause of several other diseases, such as sore throat, bronchitis or conjunctivitis when it is present in the respiratory tract. These infections caused by viruses can be severe in young children, the elderly or patients with weakened immune systems. Rotavirus and adenovirus infections are easily spread through contaminated urine or other surfaces in our environment that are contaminated with faeces. Annual epidemics usually occur in autumn and spring, but can also be less seasonal, depending on the geographical area.

ADVERTISER

The box contains the materials needed to carry out the test:

– 1 sealed aluminium bag containing 1 test tape, 1 absorbent pad. Only open the protective bag after the stool sample has been collected. Throw out the absorbent pad.
– 1 stool sample collection vial with 2 ml extraction solution
– 1 stool sample paper strip
– 1 user manual

HOW TO TAKE THE TEST

A faecal sample should be collected before the tests are performed, following the instructions below:

A – COLLECTION OF A FAECAL SAMPLE

1) Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water. Dry with a clean towel.
2) The faeces should be collected on the special paper strip in the box
3) Unscrew the cap of the sample collector and dip the sampling stick (approx. 2 cm) into the stool at 3 different places.
4) Replace the stool cap in the liquid collection container. Screw the cap on tightly and shake well to mix the stool sample thoroughly.
5) Remove the sample paper strip and flush it down the toilet.

B- TO CARRY OUT THE TEST
1) Open the protective packaging at the notches and remove the test cassette. Throw out the absorbent pad.
2) Break off the tip of the sample collection tube.
3) Hold the tube upright and slowly add exactly 5 drops of the extract into each round well of the test tube, 2-3 seconds apart.
Note: It is important to drop 5 drops into each well because the test cassette contains 2 reactive strips, one for rotavirus and one for adenovirus.
4) Read the result after 10 minutes. After 15 minutes the test is not meaningful.

EVALUATION OF THE RESULTS
When evaluating the results, the intensity of the colour of the stripes that appear is irrelevant.

1. Positive result
Two coloured lines appear in the top result window. The intensity of the test strip above the T mark may be stronger than the intensity of the control line (C). This result means that rotavirus antigen is present in the sample. If this happens, consult your doctor.
Two coloured lines appear in the bottom result window. The intensity of the test strip below the T mark may be stronger than the
intensity of the control line (C). This is the
result means that adenovirus antigen is present in the sample. In this case
consult your doctor.

2. Negative result

In both the top and bottom result windows, only one stripe appears in the control area (next to the C mark). This result means that there is neither rotavirus nor adenovirus antigen in the stool sample.

3. Invalid result

A result is invalid if no stripes appear on either the rotavirus or the adenovirus control surface next to the C mark. In this case, the test should be repeated with a new ROTAVIRUS rapid test and a new stool sample.

WARNINGS

1. This test is intended for in vitro diagnostic use only. For external use only. DO NOT TALK.

3. Store at a temperature between +4 and +30 °C. Do not freeze.

4. Do not use the test if the expiry date on the box or aluminium pouch has passed or if the aluminium pouch is damaged.

5. The ROTAVIRUS rapid test is a single-use test.
