Its job is to keep the semen liquid. This protein is also found in the blood. Changes in prostate antigen levels provide important information about the state of the prostate.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why is it important to check your PSA level regularly?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A higher than normal PSA level indicates an enlarged prostate (hypertrophy). The enlargement may be caused by a benign lesion, such as prostatitis, or even prostate cancer. PSA testing should be carried out at least once a year in all men over 50. The sooner you treat the problem, the sooner the symptoms will be relieved. Remember, early detection can lead to an early cure!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the prostate<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) is produced by the prostate (gland). The prostate gland is located in the abdominal cavity below the bladder, surrounds the urethral opening and plays a major role in the production of semen.
