Description

The ScheBo® Pancreas Elastase Rapid Test is a visual immunochromatography, IVD tool. The reagent version is for professional use only. If the test shows reduced enzyme levels, it raises the possibility of exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (reduced pancreatic enzyme release). The result of the test is not affected by the food eaten, so no diet is necessary before taking a stool sample.

The test has a sensitivity of 92% and a specificity of 94%.

WHY DO I NEED A STOOL ELASTASE 1 TEST?

The tests are used for health screening or when a disease is suspected, and can also be used to monitor the effects of treatment. In case of pain in the upper abdomen or digestive tract, digestive problems, chronic pancreatitis, cystic fibrosis or diabetes, it helps to determine whether the pancreas is affected in its function of producing digestive fluid.

WHEN AND HOW OFTEN SHOULD THE TEST BE DONE?

The time taken to complete the tests will also depend on the results of other tests and the treatments used. It can be performed immediately for acute complaints or used in the treatment and follow-up of certain pathologies. The timing of the test may be determined by the recurrence of symptoms at a certain time of day, and may also be a reflection of the elevated or reduced levels of medication the patient is taking.

The age and sex of the person being tested may also influence when and how often the test should be done. Chronic or progressive disease may also need to be monitored. Certain tests need to be repeated as the disease progresses to confirm the results.

MIWHAT PREPARATION IS REQUIRED FOR THE TEST?

Before taking a stool sample, the health care staff should be informed if the person to be tested has diarrhoea.

HOW TO TAKE THE TEST?

The test is painless and requires a stool sample placed in a special container. Avoid contact of stool samples with water, urine or toilet paper. The stool sample will be tested in our laboratory (we will include the envelope for postage in the box) and a validated result will be returned by post within 5 days.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION!

The reply envelope can only be posted at post offices in Hungary! Please do not send a reply envelope from abroad to our laboratory, as the stool sample will certainly not be analysed due to delays in transport. Please note that we can only send artifacts to Hungarian postal addresses.

15 DECEMBER EACH YEAR AND JANUARY 5. ENZYME LEVEL MEASUREMENT IS SUSPENDED BETWEEN HOLIDAYS! PLEASE DO NOT SEND A SAMPLE FOR TESTING AT THIS TIME!

Very dilute diarrhoeal stools may give a false negative result due to the dilution effect.
