Description

The RapiChek HomeCare – Wondfo One Step Strep A – One Step Strep A Rapid Test is a rapid test for the detection of group A streptococcal infection from throat samples.

DESCRIPTION

Group A streptococcus is one of the most important human pathogens, causing acute pharyngitis, tonsillitis, mucous membrane inflammation and scarlet fever. It is very important to differentiate streptococcal infection from other aetiological agents (e.g. viral, mycoplasma or chlamydial) in order to start an appropriate therapy. Early diagnosis and treatment of group A streptococcal pharyngitis infection reduces the severity of symptoms and the risk of further
complications such as rheumatic fever and inflammation of kidney tissue. That’s why it’s useful to have a home test handy, so that you can make a diagnosis as soon as the first symptoms appear.

Symptoms:

  • Sudden onset of sore throat
  • Painful swallowing
  • Enlarged tonsils and cervical lymph nodes
  • Chills, fever
  • Headache, fatigue
  • Muscle and joint pain
  • Abdominal pain and nausea, vomiting
  • Loss of appetite

SAMPLING AND PREPARATION

1. Collect a throat swab using the sterile swab provided in the kit.
2. Hold the tongue down with a tongue depressor. Wipe the back of the throat, tonsils and other inflamed areas. Avoid touching your tongue, face and teeth with the swab.
3. The test should ideally be performed immediately after the samples are collected.

CARRY OUT THE TESTING

Allow the device and buffers to warm to room temperature (10~30°C) before testing.
1. Add 4 drops of buffer A and 4 drops of buffer B to the extraction tube and mix completely. The colour of the mixed liquid should be yellow.
2. Insert the sampling swab into the tube. Rotate the swab ten times. Hagyja a tampont a csőben egy percig. Then remove the tampon by pressing the head of the tampon against the inside of the extraction tube to get as much liquid out of the tampon as possible. Throw out the tampon.
3. Close the tube and gently swirl to mix the contents. The extraction sample should be tested immediately.
4. Remove the test cassette from the sealed pouch by tearing it at the notch and place it on a clean, dry, level surface. Add 3 drops of mixed liquid sample from the extraction tube to the sample well of the test cassette (marked with an arrow) by inverting and squeezing the tube as shown.
5. Wait 10 minutes and read the results. Do not read the results after 15 minutes.

EVALUATION OF THE TEST RESULTS

In the case of a positive result, two coloured bars are shown in both the T = Test and C = Control bars. This means that you may have Streptococcus A infection and should consult your doctor.

In case of a negative result, only one colour bar appears in the C = control bar. This indicates that the concentration of group A streptococcal antigen is zero or below the detection limit of the test.

In case of an invalid result, no bar is visible or the colour bar appears only in the T= test bar. This indicates a failure of the procedure and/or deterioration of the test reagent. Repeat the test with a new test kit.

The result should be read within a maximum of 15 minutes.
