Description

The enzyme-based modern stool test for early screening of colorectal cancer was developed in Germany in 2004. (ScheBo Biotech AG.)

The test has the advantage of being painless and reliable.

During the metabolism of tumour cells, a large amount of an enzyme called pyruvate kinase (M2-PK) is produced. This enzyme is released by the tumour and is excreted in the faeces. The amount of the enzyme can then be easily tested. In the laboratory, an immunological procedure is used to detect this enzyme and quantify its levels. A quantified enzyme result with an assessment will be mailed to the patient within 4 weeks. As the test result is independent of any diet, no special diet is required before sampling and blood in the stool does not affect the result.

The reliability, sensitivity and accuracy of the method are excellent. Due to the slow development of intestinal tumours (several years), it is worth repeating the enzymatic intestinal tumour screening annually. With repeated testing, safety can be increased.

If ordered, the customer will receive the unit package by post, the fee for which must be paid upon receipt of the package. It is also possible to pay by bank transfer.

On the test boxes or in the packaging of theThe information leaflet available below indicates the deadline for sending the faeces sample. Please check this date before use!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION!

The reply envelope can only be posted at post offices in Hungary! Please do not send a reply envelope from abroad to our laboratory, as the stool sample will certainly not be analysed due to the delay in transport.

15 DECEMBER EACH YEAR AND JANUARY 5. ENZYME MEASUREMENT IS SUSPENDED BETWEEN HOLIDAYS! PLEASE DO NOT SEND A SAMPLE FOR TESTING AT THIS TIME!

Throughout the process, the distributor will comply with data protection rules.

When should enzyme-based colorectal cancer screening not be used?

Watery, diarrhoeic stools are not suitable for testing! In cases of inflammatory bowel diseases such as ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease or any other diarrhoeal disease, the test may give a positive result. We do not recommend testing for these conditions.

What should you do if you have an elevated enzyme result (positive result)?

In this case, there is a significant chance that the person has a benign or – less likely – malignant tumour in the colon or rectum. A positive result is also obtained if the intestines are inflamed. Benign tumours (polyps) also need to be diagnosed, because most of the time they turn into cancerous tumours over a period of years. With such a finding, it is absolutely necessary to visit your GP or doctor, because the cause of the elevated enzyme levels must be identified. In this case, a colonoscopy should be performed.
